2D & 3D Animation Techniques Using After Effects

In this full-day session, Trish and Chris Meyer will share their favorite
tricks and techniques to create motion graphic animations using Adobe
After Effects. Their primary focus will be making complex animations easy,
demonstrating how to use Parenting, Nesting, Expressions, Behaviors, Animation
Presets, the Puppet Tool, 3D cameras and lights, Vanishing Point, and
integrating with dedicated 3D applications. They will then show how to
use the Color Management system introduced in After Effects CS3, including
how to manage a variety of media and create output for both broadcast
and the web. The session will end with a demonstration of several of the
new features in After
Effects CS4 that will be of interest to motion graphics artists.
CyberMotion
is a motion graphics design studio in the Los Angeles area, founded by
Trish and Chris Meyer. We specialize in high-impact, multi-layered 2D
and 3D graphics for video and film, often tightly integrated with music.
Chris
& Trish Meyer are the founders of CyberMotion, an award-winning Los
Angeles motion graphic design studio. Their design and animation work
has appeared on shows and promos for CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, The Learning
Channel, HBO, and PBS. CyberMotion was one of the first studios to create
major release film opening titles using desktop tools (including major
films such as The Talented Mr. Ripley), and they have also created promotional
and trade show videos for corporate clients from Apple Computer to Xerox.
They specialize in unusual format videos, having animated for IMAX, CircleVision,
the NBC AstroVision sign in Times Square, and the four-block-long Fremont
Street Experience in Las Vegas.

Mr.
Jock Mirow is a founding partner of BroadbandVideo.com and is a pioneer
in the field. He is responsible for video integration, interface design
and encoding methodologies. He also oversees the strategic direction of
streaming media products and serves as a technical liaison to the production
community.
Mr.
Mirow began his career in the newspaper and publishing industry before
becoming Manager of Creative Services for Jones Intercable and later at
United Cable of Colorado. He served as Art Director at both Fox31 and
UPN20 and subsequently joined America Online as the Senior Producer for
Digital City Denver where he ran the creative and production department.
During his tenure at Digital City, he is attributed with the creation
of the “Chat-Cam”, a synchronized environment featuring an
online interview and video feed. The initial “Chat-Cam” experiments
with noted television personality Geraldo Rivera drew thousands of participants.

WICT - Developing women leaders
is their mission. As the oldest and largest organization serving women
professionals in cable and telecommunications, Women in Cable Telecommunications
(WICT) is at the forefront of an industry undergoing constant change.
Since its founding in 1979, WICT has remained steadfast in its resolve
to advance the position and influence of women through proven leadership
programs and services at both the national and local level.
Panelists:
Heidi Bujorian joined Charter in 2005, and now serves as corporate Advanced
Media Manager for Charter Media, the advertising sales division of Charter
Communications, Inc., a position she has held since April of 2007. Prior
to Charter, she was Account Vice President for Sundance Channel.
Ms. Bujorian is responsible
for planning and distribution of all national Video on Demand advertising
content to Charter operations as well as execution of interactive ad campaigns.
She has been in the cable industry
for over two decades, beginning her cable career immediately following
college at United Video in Tulsa, OK. She subsequently held positions
in marketing and sales management at Mid-Coast Cable TV, Showtime Networks
and Charter Media.
Ms. Bujorian is a graduate
of the University of Houston and received a BA degree in Marketing. She
lives in Castle Rock, CO with her husband and two sons.
April Horace joined Janco Partners
in October 2001, to focus on emerging technologies/services in the cable
and satellite industries. Her current coverage list includes: Liberty
Capital, Liberty Interactive, DirecTV, Dish Network, Time Warner Cable,
Home Shopping Network, XM Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, and Navteq. Prior
to Janco Partners, April was Vice President of Business Affairs at Telecommunications
Inc. (TCI), k/n/a Comcast Communications, where she was responsible for
developing and maintaining all the financial and accounting activities
for the National Digital Television Center k/n/a Comcast Media Center.
In addition, she was responsible for evaluating, structuring, and negotiating
several long- term contracts and managing partner relationships as it
related to the rollout of digital cable, interactive television, direct
broadcast satellite, and other advanced technologies. Prior to TCI, April
served at the Securities and Exchange Commission, in the division of Corporate
Finance, focusing on complex accounting issues, financial disclosure,
and registrant compliance with the 1933 and 1934 Acts. She also spent
six years with KPMG, with clients in the cable, theatre exhibition and
mining industries. April received her B.S degree from the University of
Colorado in accounting and a minor in finance.
Cynthia Carpenter is a marketing
and operations executive with more than 17 years’ experience in
cable and telecommunications. Her background spans several facets of the
cable and telecom industry, including programming, distribution, and new
product launch. Having managed teams throughout her career, Cynthia’s
greatest sense of accomplishment is in mentoring and coaching others.
Since she began her career at Starz! in 1991, Cynthia has been an active
member of Women in Cable Telecommunications and is an alumna of the Betsy
Magness Leadership Institute and a WICT Mentor. Cynthia received her undergraduate
degree from Cornell University and her Master of Business Administration
from Boston University. Her work experience includes marketing and operations
roles with Starz! Encore Group, Time Warner Cable, High Speed Access Corp.,
Rainbow Media, and Level 3 Communications. Currently, she is running a
consulting practice working with high-tech start-ups in the Boulder area.
Cynthia lives near Boulder, Colorado with her husband and two daughters.
Rebecca R. Lim is responsible
for Starz Entertainment’s interactive television initiatives and
consumer experience. She leads the user interface design and strategy
for the on-demand broadband services including Starz Play, VONGO, and
VONGO TV. Rebecca led the Starz team in the first satellite transmission
of an OpenCable Applications Platform (OCAP) tru2way broadcast.
Rebecca is active in industry
groups committed to evolving media that include; the Academy of Television
Arts and Sciences Interactive Media Peer Group, the National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences Advanced Media Executive Committee, the CTAM
On Demand Consortium, and the CableLabs Enhanced TV Programmers Group.
She has also mentored in the American Film Institute Digital Content Lab.
Rebecca was honored with the
“Woman of Technology” 2005 Award from Rocky Mountain WICT
and graduated in Class XIII of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.
She was named by CableWorld Magazine as one of the Top 50 Women in Technology
2006.
Rebecca has worked over 25
years in the media industry, holding senior management positions in cable
and broadcast television, interactive television and technology development.
She spent over five years with TCI and AT&T Broadband, where she led
content development for the DCT 5000 platform. Rebecca was the Hong Kong
bureau chief for Asia Business News (now CNBC Asia) and worked at CNN
at its launch.
Rebecca is a Guest Lecturer
at the University of Missouri, School of Journalism, Digital Convergence.
She is also active in several charity groups.
Vongo’s
user experience has been recognized five times for design excellence.

Homer Gonzalez III, director of products and services for the Comcast
Media Center (CMC), oversees the CMC’s HITS Advanced Interactive
Services (”AxIS”) platform, which is designed to support advanced
interactive application developers and facilitate the launch of their
interactive services on cable systems serving small to mid-size markets.
HITS AxIS launched this spring and Gonzalez and his team has already signed
up more than a dozen leading companies in the iTV product development
space, as well as cable systems that will serve as BETA sites for the
next generation of iTV services.
Gonzalez’s involvement on both the content and operational sides
of the tru2way coin allows him to provide RM VIDEXPO 2008 attendees insights

Homer Gonzalez III has served as Director, Products and Services for the
Comcast Media Center (CMC) since joining the company in March of 2007.
The scope of his responsibilities encompasses technology selection, market
analysis, product definition, product development and product rollout.
Most recently, Gonzalez has served as product manager for the CMC’s
HITS AxIS centralized content services bureau. This suite of advanced
services for cable system operators is designed to provide industry-leading

launching VOD and expanding their VOD libraries, Shaver can provide RM

resonating with digital video customers as well as how emerging technologies
are helping to shape the next generation of on-demand video applications.

a partner in Call Box Live, a company focused on producing
training DVD’s focused on HD workflow, production and post-production
techniques.
